Arusha National Park Size: 137 km²- the second smallest national park in Tanzania
Location: about 37 km from the town of Arusha.

The main attractions of this national park, besides the Mount Meru itself, are its rich forests, the Momella Lakes around its base and Ngurdoto Crater. Mount Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania, with a height of 4,565 m (15,000 ft). Climbing the mountain takes 3-4 days.
This haven is a paradise for all kinds of animals. Around the mountain side can be found the biggest concentration of giraffes, including other large herds of buffalos, waterbucks, black and white colobus monkeys and a whole lot more. Especially impressive are the large number of bird which flock to the area, such as flamingos for instance.
This park was also the film location for the classic movie Hatari, which starred John Wayne and Hardy Krüger. Back to overview
